From age 5, Aya was trained in classical, contemporary and folkloric dance before travelling to Spain to study in the heart of flamenco; Seville Spain at 14.
Her comprehensive training included studying with maestros of flamenco dance in Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera, Seville and Cádiz, as well as with Adrian Galia in Japan. She continues to travel to Spain regularly for professional development, performance and collaborative recording projects.
Since returning to Melbourne in 2011, she established “SENES Flamenco” to encourage the growth of flamenco in Australia. She tours and performs across the country as a dance soloist, choreographer, percussionist and vocalist with SENES FLAMENCO.
Aya continues to share her knowledge, experience and creative works through performances, dance workshops, incursions and teaching regular dance & music lessons at “Centro de Flamenco Melbourne”.
She has a passion in teaching and has held workshops for Wheelchair Dance (Flamenco) and guest teaches at Ballet Schools including Utassy Ballet School & The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet.

Established in Melbourne Australia in 2011, SENES Flamenco is a unique Spanish Dance & Music Ensemble bringing exhilarating live flamenco dance & music performances to diverse audiences of all ages.
The ensemble aims to inspire cross-cultural understanding through the art of flamenco music and dance.
Its central ideas are motivated by the freedom for artists to express themselves through dance and music in an authentic manner and to engage with audiences through the art of Flamenco.
Working in conjunction with talented artists across diverse genres, it is dedicated to the development of multicultural performing arts and arts education in Australia.
